Mike Benedum Tops Skidmore Memorial at Elkins
Collects $5,000 for His Second Win of 2018
Salem, West Virginia (07/24/18) – For the second time in the month of July and for the second time in 2018, Mike Benedum parked his Eric Hudkins Motorsports #25 BSI Well Service Sweet Bloomquist Race Car/ Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane over the weekend.
His latest conquest came on Saturday night at West Virginia’s Elkins Raceway in the Skidmore Memorial.
“We had a good car from the drop of the green, but it seemed like the guys in front of me in the Top 5 were all running in pretty much the same spot on the track, so I decided to head to the top side to give it a shot, and that made all the difference,†Benedum said. “I can’t say enough about how good this car is, and that’s definitely a result of how much hard work my team has put into it. I really think we are onto something great here.â€
Mike Benedum invaded Elkins Raceway (Kerens, West Virginia) on Friday night for the unsanctioned Red Fredrick Memorial. With 28 Super Late Models registered for action, Benedum laid down the third-fastest time in qualifying, which locked him into the Dash. Rolling off sixth for the Dash, Mike advance one spot to place fifth.
Via his preliminary performance Benedum started fifth in the $5,200-to-win A-Main. He would battle in the Top 10 throughout the event before streaking across the finish line in the sixth position.
Returning to Elkins Raceway on Saturday night for the Skidmore Memorial, Mike registered the fastest time in qualifying before finishing second in his heat race behind Walker Arthur.
Starting the feature in fifth, Benedum blasted past race-leader Walker Arthur on the high-side en route to his second win of the season and a $5,000 payday. Tim Senic, Tyler Bare, Walker Arthur, and Ryan Montgomery completed the Top-5 finishers in the 50-lap affair.
