Dustin Strand Turns Rare B-Mod Start into Ninth Win of 2018
Two-Night, Two-Division Action on Tap for Strand this Weekend
Grand Forks, North Dakota (07/24/18) – Dustin Strand turned a rare start in his Q&Z Plumbing & Heating #71 McCaughan Builders/ Millenium Midwest Modified into his ninth win of 2018 on Saturday night.
“With my busy schedule in the Late Model and the A-Modified, I rarely get a chance to run the Midwest Modified, so it was a lot of fun to not only get to race it, but to win in it,†Strand commented. “From our track time in the Midwest Modified, we were also able to get some nice notes to pass onto our clients. We didn’t get a win in the Late Model this weekend, but we did have a pair of runner-up finishes, so we are pretty pleased with that as well.â€
On Friday evening Dustin Strand was one of 18 Super Late Models registered at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) for the regular night of racing. Passing three cars in his heat, Strand streaked to an 8-lap heat race win, positioning him ninth on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Breaking into a podium spot, Dustin improved seven positions to place second behind Joey Pederson with Brad Seng, Mike Balcaen, and Bill Mooney completing the Top-5 finishers.
The following night at Devil’s Lake Speedway (Lakota, North Dakota), pulling double duty in the Super Late Model and Midwest Modified ranks, Strand locked his spot into the Late Model feature with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Cole Schill.
Starting in sixth, Dustin gained four spots in the 25-lapper, reeling in a runner-up finish behind Brad Seng with Ryan Corbett, Cole Schill, and Mike Balcaen trailing them across the line.
In the Midwest Modified division, Strand jumped up five spots in his heat race to pick up the 8-lap win. Rolling off from the pole, Dustin Strand topped Ryan Schroeder, Lance Schill, Jesse Brekke, and Cole Haugland at the line to capture his ninth win of the season.
