Jimmy Mars Victorious in WCS Events at Superior and Rice Lake; Lucrative Week Ahead!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars' 2018 win total now stands at six following a pair of WISSOTA Challenge Series triumphs in his home state of Wisconsin over the July 27-28 weekend! On Friday night at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wisconsin, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action prior to driving the Paul Gilberts-owned #28 MB Customs entry to the $1,500 victory in the first 'AMSOIL Twin Ports Twin 25.' In the second 25-lapper at the former AMSOIL Speedway, Jimmy started sixteenth on the feature grid after a huge invert and drove past twelve competitors to secure a solid fourth place showing.

At Rice Lake Speedway in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on Saturday evening, Jimmy once again picked up a heat race win and later rolled off from the inside of the second row in the 40-lap headliner. After grabbing the point on lap six of the WISSOTA Challenge Series A-Main, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star stayed out front to capture the $2,000 windfall ahead of Lance Matthees, Pat Doar, A.J. Diemel, and James Giossi! Complete results from both weekend races can be found online at www.wissotachallengeseries.com.

“It was a great weekend for us and a lot of fun to run up around home,” exclaimed Mars today via telephone. “We have a hectic week with our Super Late Model leading up to the USA Nationals this week, so it was a good opportunity to race my father-in-law’s car in a couple of WISSOTA Challenge Series races and keep our own equipment fresh. Our car showed speed at both Superior and Rice Lake and we were able to get a couple of wins. I can’t thank Paul (Gilberts) enough for putting that deal together for me and hopefully we can get on a little roll here this week at Plymouth, Shawano, and Cedar Lake!”

Jimmy will look for added success this week in the Badger State, as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series will roar into Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin, and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from July 30-August 4. Things will get underway later tonight at Plymouth, as a $10,000 top prize will be on the line. Another $10,000 payday will be up for grabs in a single-day shootout on Tuesday at Shawano.

One of the biggest races of the year will then take center stage on August 2-4 at Cedar Lake Speedway, as the 31st Annual ‘USA Nationals’ will be held at the racy 3/8-mile oval. A $6,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs on Thursday evening for the cars and stars racing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. Two sets of heat races and a dash will then be held on Friday night to help set the lineups for Saturday at CLS. Following the consolation races and the Last Chance Qualifier, the hectic week will culminate with the 100-lap ‘USA Nationals,’ which will once again boast a whopping $50,000 paycheck. Jimmy, who is a two-time ‘USA Nationals’ winner, is also scheduled to enter both NASCAR Late Model races at Cedar Lake, which both pay $2,500 to win.
