Chase Junghans Races to Fourth in the 31st Annual USA Nationals
Prepares for WoO East Coast Swing
Manhattan, Kansas (08/08/18) – Chase Junghans enjoyed a great run during the 31st annual USA Nationals on Saturday night in his Shop Quik Convenience Stores #18 Bozard Ford Lincoln Rocket Chassis XR1/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
When the checkered flag dropped on the 100 lapper, he was credited with a fourth-place finish.
“We got our butts kicked on Thursday night, so we put our heads together and came up with a different game plan for Friday and Saturday, and it all worked well,†Junghans said. “We’re tickled to death to run fourth in a big race like this because we’ve really been struggling. It seems like I always do better in the hard tire events, and maybe that’s because of my time in a Modified. We’ll take this momentum and move onto the next one.â€
Thursday night brought 45 World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series competitors to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for the opening round of the 31st annual USA Nationals weekend. Chase started the night by registering the fourth-fastest time in his qualifying group. He backed it up by landing a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature. He would go on to record a 14th-place finish.
The following night with two rounds of heat races on the docket, Chase passed two cars in his first heat, reeling in a runner-up finish behind Chris Madden. Rolling off fifth in his second heat, Junghans jumped up one spot to place fourth. Sitting in ninth overall in total passing points, Chase locked into the ninth-starting position for the $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening.
Gaining momentum as each lap passed, Chase Junghans improved five spots in the 100-lap main event to register a fourth-place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Brian Shirley, and Jimmy Owens with Bobby Pierce rounding out the Top 5.

The team will be idle this weekend as they enjoy some time at home. Action will resume on August 16-19 as the team hits the road with WoO.
