Dennis Erb, Jr. Earns Trio of Top Ten Finishes Heading into World 100 Weekend

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team headed to the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series from August 31-September 2 for a trio of pivotal point battles. At Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky on Friday night, Dennis Erb, Jr. suffered mechanical problems during hot laps and was forced to switch to a back-up car for the remainder of the show. After missing out on qualifying, Dennis finished eighth in his loaded heat race and fifth in the B-Main. The Carpentersville, Illinois standout then utilized a series provisional to gain access into the $12,000 to win 'John Bradshaw Memorial' and proceeded to pick off thirteen competitors to advance to tenth when the race was called official after only 30 circuits due to rain.

Another $12,000 payday was on the line on Saturday evening at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio in the 'Bob Miller Memorial.' Dennis placed sixth in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and later vaulted all the way up to seventh in the final finishing order of the 50-lapper. The tripleheader then wrapped up with the annual running of the 'Hillbilly Hundred' on Sunday at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia, as a whopping $50,000 top prize was up for grabs. Dennis grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race and later steered past four competitors during the 100-lap headliner on his way to a respectable tenth place showing. Full results from the triple shot of racing action can be located online at www.lucasdirt.com.

The #28 team will now make their annual September pilgrimage to the hallowed high-banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 6-8 for the 48th edition of the fabled ‘World 100.’ A complete preliminary show highlighted by a pair of Twin 25s will be held on both Thursday and Friday at the “Big E,” as drivers will gun for the $10,000 payday in each of those four 25-lap sprints. Combined points from those two prelim nights will set the lineup for Saturday’s traditional six heat races.

Following the heat races on Saturday at the 1/2-mile speedplant, two consolation races will finalize the starting field for the 48th Annual ‘World 100.’ A huge crowd is expected to file into Eldora Speedway to witness the 100-lap crown jewel spectacular, which is set to pay a hefty $51,000 to the winner. Dennis has transferred into ten ‘World 100’ headliners throughout his career with his best finish of second coming in 2016 behind only victor Bobby Pierce.
