Dennis Erb, Jr. Back on Lucas Oil Trail Starting Tonight at Knoxville Raceway
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. was one of the 101 entrants that piled into the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 6-8 to compete in the 48th edition of the 'World 100.' Things kicked off on Thursday night - actually the wee hours of Friday morning after a long rain delay - with a pair of Twin 25 programs, each of which paid $10,000 to the winner. Dennis timed in nineteenth quickest overall during qualifying prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the eighth row in the 25-lapper, Dennis drove past four competitors at the "Big E" to secure a solid eleventh place showing.
Friday's $10,000 to win Twin 25s and Saturday's prestigious 'World 100,' which was scheduled to boast a $51,000 windfall, both fell victim to the rainy remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon and have been postponed until October 12-13. The Dennis Erb Racing team has made the trek west to the renowned Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for this weekend’s 15th Annual ‘Knoxville Late Model Nationals.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction the crown jewel spectacular, which starts tonight, September 13 with a $7,000 to win preliminary event. Another $7,000 payday will be up for grabs on Friday night leading into Saturday evening’s 100-lap grand finale, which will pay out a whopping $40,000 to the victor. Dennis’ career best ‘Knoxville Late Model Nationals’ finish came back in 2016 when he crossed underneath the checkers in the ninth position in the extra-distance affair.
