Dennis Erb, Jr. Lands Inside Top Ten in Rome Showdown; PPMS Ahead this Weekend
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr., of Carpentersville, Illinois, was in the pit area at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia and Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia on September 29-30 for a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilts. On Saturday night in the annual 'Dixie Shootout,' which paid $12,000 to the winner, Dennis placed fifth in his heat race, second in his B-Main, and nineteenth in the 50-lap headliner that provided little to no passing after the halfway mark.
In the $10,000 to win 'Rome Showdown' on Sunday evening, Dennis laid down the second quickest time in Group B during qualifying prior grabbing the third transfer spot through his stacked heat race. He then moved past four competitors during the 50-lapper to leave Rome with a solid eighth place feature showing. Dennis currently sits twelfth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings with only two series races remaining on the schedule. Complete results from both weekend events in the Peach State can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.
Up next for the #28 team will be a trek east to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania for the 30th edition of the ‘Pittsburgher 100.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggie will kick off on Friday night, October 5 with time trials and heat races. The final night of the ‘Pittsburgher 100’ will be on Saturday, October 6, as racing action on the monster 1/2-mile oval will feature the consolation events and the 100-lap headliner, which will boast a whopping $20,000 payday. Dennis has been a part of four of the last five special events at PPMS with his best finish of fifth coming in 2015 behind winner Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Don O’Neal, and Jimmy Owens.
