Jeep Van Wormer to Help Close Out Summer Nationals with Four Straight Races
(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team are about to embark on a busy stretch of racing with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals starting later tonight, July 10 at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan. Jeep, who was once a full-time competitor on the grueling month-long “Hell Tour,†is scheduled to enter all four races this week, as the tour winds down in the states of Michigan and Ohio. Following the $5,000 to win show tonight at Thunderbird, another $5,000 top prize will be on the line on Thursday evening, July 11 at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
The final two programs on the 2019 Summer Nationals slate will then take place on Friday and Saturday, July 12-13 at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio. A $5,000 payday will await the winner of Friday’s penultimate series event, while the 21st Annual ‘Birthday Race’ will serve as the series finale on Saturday night and Jeep will be gunning for the $10,000 windfall. The Pinconning, Michigan ace is currently twelfth on the all-time win list with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, as he has visited victory lane on fifteen different occasions throughout his career. More information on these four races can be accessed online at www.thehelltour.com.
The last time the Iron Motorsports transporter left the race shop was to travel to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan on Friday night, June 28 for the 'Battle of Speed 40.' The American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) presided over the single-day throwdown and a $4,000 winner's check was up for grabs. Jeep timed in fourth fastest in his group during the qualifying session and later placed fourth in his heat race. After starting seventh on the feature grid in the 40-lapper, Jeep blasted all the way up to second in the contest to finish a strong runner-up behind only race winner David Mielke!
