Dennis Erb, Jr. Sixth in Dirt Million Duel; Back on Outlaws Trail this Weekend

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team made their way to the Buckeye State on August 22-24 for the 2nd edition of the 'Dirt Million' at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again sanctioned the crown jewel extravaganza, which kicked off with a pair of $10,000 to win preliminary duels. Dennis Erb, Jr. ran second in his heat race on Thursday night prior to winding up sixth in the final finishing order of the 30-lap opener behind only prelim winner Scott Bloomquist, Josh Richards, Brandon Sheppard, Michael Norris, and Darrell Lanigan. In Friday's similar program, Dennis placed sixth in his loaded heat race and later steered past a couple of competitors during the 30-lapper en route to a fourteenth place showing.

At Mansfield on Saturday evening, a whopping $101,626 payday was up for grabs in the 'Dirt Million.' Dennis nabbed the second transfer spot through his heat race to earn the inside of the ninth row for the start of the 100-lap headliner. Even with the track taking rubber early in the distance and becoming one-groove, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace was able to work his way past a handful of racecars on his way to a respectable twelfth place performance. The #28 team will rejoin the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series tour over the hectic Labor Day weekend, as the national touring series hosts events in the states of Michigan and Ohio. On Thursday, August 29, I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan will start the tripleheader with a $10,000 to win throwdown. The inaugural running of the ‘Battle at the Border’ will then take place on August 30-31 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. Dennis, who sits sixth in the current WOOLMS point standings, will gun for the $6,000 top prize on Friday night and the hefty $15,000 paycheck at Sharon on Saturday evening.
