Blake Spencer Says Goodbye To His Best Friend

Late Friday night, Blake Spencer said goodbye to his best friend. After a brave fight against cancer, Jack Spencer passed away.

A family statement said the following:

"Late last night we said goodbye to our Husband, Father, Best Friend, Coach and so much more to so many people over the last 72 years. In true Coach Spencer fashion, he fought hard when it was time to fight, he loved, protected and put his family first through every stage of his life and you can believe that every day, including the last, he did it 'his way'! We will all miss him in our daily lives but are beyond grateful for his life, our memories and that he made a peaceful transition into eternity with his family and friends all around him."

1While Spencer bypassed the weekend's World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series action to spend precious time with in his father in his final days, the Florida racer is adamant to complete the remainder of the season with the tour.

"This has been a challenging season between taking on such a daunting task as tackling the full Outlaw schedule, while carrying a very heavy heart as I watched my father's health diminish," Spencer said. "However, just like my dad, if I do something, I give it 110%. Even though we missed this weekend's events, we'll be back with the tour for the final four races."

Spencer wrapped up by thanking the racing community for their support and embrace during this trying time for his family.

"The racing fraternity is an extremely special group of people, and from the bottom of my heart I want to thank each-and-every person, who has supported us and reached out to us during this extremely trying time. It means the world to our family."
