Jake Knowles Conquers Camden Durrence Layne Action
Pads Point’s Advantage in Series Standings
Rome, Georgia (09/23/19) – Jake Knowles once again visited Victory Lane with the Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series over the weekend. His latest victory came on Saturday night at Tennessee’s Camden Speedway in his Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Phillips Properties/ Josh Roberts Trucking/ Coosa Heating & Cooling/ Longhorn Chassis Late Model.
The victory was his fourth of the year with the tour and his fifth triumph overall of 2019. The win also allowed him to extend his advantage atop the series’ standings.
“We buried ourselves on Friday night in qualifying, but still rebounded to finish seventh,†Knowles shared. “On Saturday night we had a much better start to the night, and we were able to pounce late to get the win. This has been a great year for our team, and it’s because of the awesome help and support that we get.â€
Jake Knowles followed the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to Tennessee National Raceway (Hohenwald, Tennessee) on Friday night, where he opened a doubleheader weekend with the tour. Jake qualified 14th fastest in the 28-car field in time trials. Knowles then scored a 10-lap B-Main victory, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the $2,000-to-win A-Main. Improving three positions in the 40-lap affair, Jake reeled in a seventh-place finish.
On Saturday afternoon at Camden Speedway (Camden, Tennessee), Jake secured his spot into the A-Main with the seventh-fastest time in qualifying. Wheeling his way into a podium spot within in the first three laps, Knowles overtook Brandon Williams late in the race to capture his fifth win of the season and a $2,500 payday. Oakley Johns, Spencer Hughes, Justin McRee, and Cruz Skinner trailed him to the checkers in the 40-lap affair.

This weekend – September 27-28 – the team is tentatively planning to travel to Mississippi to compete in the annual Cooper’s Country Meat Packers Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Johnny Stokes’ Magnolia Motor Speedway. He’ll be pursuing a $3,000 top prize in the Crate Late Model division.
