CAVE CITY, Ark. (01/16/20) – Making the trek west, Jeff Taylor invaded Cocopah Speedway (Somerton, Ariz.) over the weekend to kick off the annual IMCA Winter Nationals presented by Yuma Insurance.

The driver of the Industrial Electric No. 5 Spur Bar/ Wehrs Machine/ Provence Construction/ Shaw Race Car Modified collected a pair of podium finishes to start his 2020 season.

“We’ve got a pretty good ride so far,” said Taylor. “Congrats to [Ricky] Thornton, [Chaz] Baca, and [Jake] O’Neil on their wins. Thank you to all my sponsors for their support. Also, thanks to everyone at Shaw Race Cars for their help. We’ll be back next weekend and try to pick up a win.”

On Thursday evening, in a field of 49 cars, Taylor jumped two spots in his heat race to register a runner-up finish behind Chaz Baca. Earning the eighth-starting position for the A-Main, Jeff passed six cars in the 25-lapper to place second behind Ricky Thornton Jr. Jake O’Neil, Tom Berry Jr., and Kollin Hibdon rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

The following night, Jeff came in fifth in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top-5 into the A-Main, Taylor posted a runner-up finish behind Tim Ward, which positioned him 18th on the starting grid for the main event.

Breaking into the Top-10, Jeff Taylor charged through the field 11 spots to reel in a solid seventh-place finish.

Saturday evening saw Taylor secure his spot into the A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat behind Tim Ward.
