Ray Cook Eyes Trip to North Georgia Speedway on Heels of Top Ten Showing

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook Racing made a last minute decision to travel to Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia on Saturday evening, March 7 to compete in a weekly Super Late Model show. Still shaking down his new Capital racecar, Ray Cook laid down the fourth quickest lap during the time trial session. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the $1,200 to win main event, Ray fought hard for a top five showing at the Chattanooga-area facility before slipping back to an eighth place effort. Complete results from the showdown at Boyd's Speedway can be accessed online at www.boydsspeedway.info.

“We were quick right off the trailer and put down the fastest lap during hot laps, but really didn’t make any changes to the car after that,” quoted Cook via telephone this week. “Qualifying wasn’t bad and I thought the track would come to us in the feature and that was just my mistake. The car has been good every other time we have raced it or tested with it, I just have to do a better job of knowing what changes to make on it and that comes with racing more often.”

The #53 team will do just that, as they are scheduled to return to racing action tomorrow night, March 13 at North Georgia Speedway. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will preside over their season opener at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval and a $4,000 top prize will be up for grabs. This race was originally scheduled to take place last Saturday, March 7, but was pushed back nearly a week due to inclement weather. Additional information concerning the 40-lap Ultimate Series lid lifter can be located by visiting www.ultimatesupers.com.
