Conley Motorsports, Inc. Finally Opens Season; R.J. Conley Lands Brownstown Top Five
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Three of the Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers finally lifted the lid to their 2020 racing season on Saturday evening, June 6 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. A solid 30 car field converged at the 1/4-mile, fairgrounds oval to do battle for the $2,200 top prize. R.J. Conley turned in the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session prior to picking up a heat race triumph. After starting the 30-lapper from the outside of the front row, R.J. slipped back a few spots early in the race and eventually crossed the finish line in the fifth position behind only race winner Devin Gilpin, Greg Johnson, Shelby Miles, and Jared Bailey.
His brother Rod Conley clicked off the second quickest time in his group during qualifying before finishing fourth in his heat race. The Wheelersburg, Ohio ace unfortunately suffered a flat tire and eventually wound up being paid for a seventeenth place performance in the unsanctioned headliner. J.T. Conley also made his first-ever visit to Brownstown Speedway and ran fifth in his heat race and sixteenth in the A-Main due to a fifth coil issue. The same three CMI pilots will return to action over the upcoming June 12-13 weekend. Rod Conley will kick off his weekend on Friday night at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, West Virginia, as a $1,500 winner’s check will be on the line. Rod will then join R.J. and J.T. Conley on Saturday evening at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio. An unsanctioned program will be held at MRP to close out the weekend and each of the three drivers will vie for the $5,000 paycheck.
