Brandon Sheppard Registers Five Top-10 Finishes to Start Speedweeks
Set for Three Nights of LOLMDS Action at All-Tech Raceway
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (02/03/22) – Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing embarked on 14 nights of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Speedweeks action with events in the past week at Golden Isles Speedway and Bubba Raceway Park.
While the driver of the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine didn’t visit Victory Lane he showed consistency throughout with five Top-10 finishes and three Top-5 finishes in five starts.
“We’re missing just a little something, but we’re getting closer each race night. We start the night off fast, but we are still searching a bit in the feature. Once we put the whole night together, I know the wins will come,†Sheppard said. “We’re geared up for All-Tech (Raceway) this weekend and then East Bay Raceway Park next week. It’s two places I like, and the fans are always great at both tracks, so I’m looking forward to it.â€
To kick off the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) slate, Rocket1 Racing and house car pilot Brandon Sheppard traveled to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday evening for the Super Bowl of Racing.
With 47 Late Models entered, Sheppard followed up the third-fastest time in his group with an eight-lap heat win. After sharing the lead with Kyle Larson and Tyler Erb in the first half of the 40-lap feature, Brandon gained momentum late in the race through the middle groove to reel in a second-place finish. He followed Devin Moran to the checkers with Larson, Erb, and Tim McCreadie rounding out the Top-5.
On Friday, Brandon’s second-place finish in his heat race positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the $12,000-to-win A-Main. Surrendering one spot in the 50-lap affair, Sheppard recorded a ninth-place outing.
For the finale on Saturday, Sheppard laid down the second-fastest lap in his time trial group before placing second in his heat. With $15,000 on the line in the feature, Brandon improved one spot to register a ninth-place finish.
Rocket1 Racing was back on the road with LOLMDS contingent on Monday afternoon at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Fla.) for the K&N Filters Winternationals doubleheader. With a heat race win placing him on the pole for the opening night feature, Brandon faded back to fifth early but rebounded late in the 40-lapper to finish third. He followed Tim McCreadie and Devin Moran across the line.
For another $10,000-to-win A-Main on Tuesday, Sheppard laid down the fifth-fastest lap in his group before picking up a heat victory. After fading outside the Top-5 in the feature, Brandon gained momentum late in the race to place fourth. Devin Moran, Tyler Erb, and Ricky Thornton Jr. stood on the podium while Shane Clanton came in fifth.

This weekend – February 3-5 – Rocket1 Racing enter a trio of events at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The three-race swing includes a $10,000-to-win program on Thursday night, a $12,000-to-win feature on Friday evening, and a $15,000-to-win finale on Saturday.
