Dennis Erb, Jr. Victorious at Spoon River Speedway; Eyes Illinois Valley Showdown!
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. claimed his first feature win of the 2025 campaign on Sunday evening, May 25 at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois! Dennis clicked off the fastest lap in Group B during MARS Racing Series qualifying and later secured a heat race triumph. After starting the 40-lap main event from the outside of the front row, Dennis grabbed the top spot away from Ryan Unzicker on the tenth circuit. The Carpentersville, Illinois native then led all but one lap during the remainder of the contest to bag the $5,000 first place prize money ahead of runner-up Shannon Babb, Ryan Unzicker, Jason Feger, and Ashton Winger!
A night earlier on Saturday, May 24 at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, another $5,000 winner's check was on the line with the MARS Racing Series. Dennis stopped the clock fifth quickest in Group A during the qualifying session prior to finishing second in his heat race. He then rolled off from the inside of the fifth row in the 40-lapper and charged to the front of the strong field. At the checkers, Dennis rounded out the podium in third behind only victor Jason Feger and runner-up Brian Shirley. “The car was working real good around the top there,” quoted Erb, Jr. in Spoon River Speedway victory lane on Sunday. “I saw a nose down there at the end, so I knew we had to pick it up a little bit and it all just worked out for us. You get back home here and race with a group of guys that we grew up racing with and they are all tough. We had this new car dialed in here tonight.”
With the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series once again idle this upcoming weekend, Dennis Erb Racing will invade LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on May 30-31 for the ‘Illinois Valley Showdown.’ The MARS Racing Series will preside over the two-day program, which kicks off later this evening with a pair of $5,000 to win Twin 25s. On Saturday evening, a whopping $25,000 top prize will be up for grabs in a 75-lap grand finale.
