Dennis Erb, Jr. Lands on Podium in Gopher State 50 Prelim; Sharon Speedway Doubleheader Next
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The annual running of the NAPA 'Gopher State 50' took place at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota from July 3-5 and the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series action kicked off with a pair of $10,000 to win preliminary programs. Last Thursday night in the opener, Dennis Erb, Jr. ran third in his heat race prior to picking off a trio of competitors during the 30-lap feature en route to a solid seventh place showing. With another $10,000 payday up for grabs last Friday evening, Dennis grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his heat race and later advanced thirteen positions during the 30-lapper to land on the podium in third behind only victor Nick Hoffman and runner-up Ryan Gustin!
Saturday's 75-lap headliner, which was set to pay a whopping $50,000 to the winner, unfortunately rained out early in the day and was not rescheduled. Dennis currently sits sixth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings exiting Deer Creek Speedway. The Dennis Erb Racing team will follow the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series to the Buckeye State on July 11-12 for a pair of big events. Later tonight, a $12,000 winner’s check will be on the line at Sharon Speedway, while the Hartford, Ohio speedplant will also play host to a $15,000 to win program on Saturday evening.
