Rod Conley Still Third in Iron-Man Series Points After Pair of Solid Efforts in Buckeye State
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The #71R Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) team followed the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series to Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio and Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio over the August 8-9 weekend.
With a $5,000 payday up for grabs on Friday night at Millstream, Rod Conley knocked down the fourth quickest lap in Group A during qualifying prior to finishing second in his heat race behind only winner Clint Keenan. In the 30-lapper, Rod advanced past a pair of competitors to land in the fifth spot behind victor Rusty Schlenk, Clint Keenan, Matt Miller, and Devin Shiels. At Wayne County on Saturday evening, "Hot Rod" ran fourth in his heat race prior to passing three cars during the $5,000 to win feature to place eighth at the checkers. Next up for Conley Motorsports, Inc. will be a visit to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday, August 15. Both Rod and R.J. Conley will compete later tonight in the annual Ike Moler Memorial to vie for the $5,000 first place prize. On Saturday evening, August 16, Rod will dip south to Richmond Raceway in Richmond Kentucky for the $12,059 to win Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial. Rod still finds himself third in the latest American Late Model Iron-Man Series point standings heading into the doubleheader weekend.
