Dennis Erb, Jr. Sits Fifth in World of Outlaws Points Heading into Arrowhead Speedway
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. followed the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series to a trio of different dirt ovals in Illinois and Iowa from August 13-16. Up first was a pair of $12,000 to win shootouts at Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois and Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. Debuting a new XR2 Rocket Chassis, Dennis laid down the quickest lap in Group B during qualifying last Wednesday at Highland before winning his heat race and finishing sixth in the 40-lap feature. At Spoon River last Thursday, Dennis ran second in his heat race, drew the pole position for the 40-lapper, and led the first four circuits before winding up sixth again at the checkered flag.
Over the weekend, the #28 team was in the pit area at Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa for the annual running of the 'Hawkeye 100.' After the $12,000 to win weekend opener on Friday fell to Mother Nature, Saturday's weekend finale, which boasted a $20,000 payday, went off without a hitch. Dennis timed in seventh fastest in Group A during the qualifying session and later grabbed the second transfer spot through his heat race. At the completion of sixty green flag laps in the headliner, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace found himself in the tenth position and now sits fifth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings. Full results from all three races can be found online at www.woolms.com.
Dennis Erb Racing has headed to Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Oklahoma this weekend for the ‘Sooner State Showdown.’ The tripleheader kicks off later tonight with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series sanctioning a $10,000 to win event. The World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series then roars into Arrowhead to preside over a pair of weekend shows paying $12,000 to the winner on Friday, August 22 and $20,000 to the victor on Saturday, August 23.
