Dennis Erb, Jr. Back at Volusia Speedway Park for Six-Race DIRTcar Nationals
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team returns to competition this week in the annual running of the ‘DIRTcar Nationals’ at Volusia Speedway Park. The six-race stretch for the Super Late Models at the Barberville, Florida speedplant kicks off later tonight, February 9 with a $7,000 to win DIRTcar Racing event. A similar $7,000 to win show will take place on Tuesday at VSP prior to the triple feature program on Wednesday, which pays $5,000 to the winner of each main event.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series then takes over the reins, as the national sanctioning body will preside over a pair of $12,000 to win shootouts on Thursday and Friday at the storied Daytona Beach-area facility. The ‘DIRTcar Nationals’ grand finale on Saturday evening, February 14 will also be World of Outlaws sanctioned and will shell out a hefty $20,000 first place prize. Dennis Erb, Jr. comes into the ‘DIRTcar Nationals’ fourth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace currently sits only 24 markers out of the top spot, which is occupied by Brandon Sheppard. During the season-opening ‘Sunshine Nationals,’ which was also held at Volusia Speedway Park from January 22-24, Dennis amassed a pair of top five efforts including a third place podium performance in the $20,000 to win finale.
In World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying on Saturday, January 24, Dennis started off his evening by laying down the quickest lap in Group B during the time trial session. After slipping to finish second in his heat race, Dennis worked past four competitors during the 50-lap feature to land on the podium in third behind only victor Tim McCreadie and runner-up Brandon Sheppard!
