Wil Herrington Rules Southern Heritage Classic at Needmore Speedway
Claims $5,000 Limited Late Model Payday
HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. (March 31, 2026) — A challenging, multi-division weekend ended on a high note for Wil Herrington, who captured his third victory of the season at the track where he grew up racing.
Despite battling mechanical issues in two of the three cars he drove, Herrington parked the Kenny Limrick and Race McMahon-owned No. 5 Limited Late Model in victory lane during the Southern Heritage Classic at Needmore Speedway.
“Big thanks to these guys for letting me drive their hot rod,” Herrington said. “We were fast right out of the box yesterday and again tonight. Hats off to them for building a fast piece and giving me the opportunity to drive it. It’s nice to be standing in victory lane after the eventful weekend we had. Hoping to carry this momentum into the weekend.”
The Georgia native opened competition in his home state with Friday’s preliminary program for the fourth annual Southern Heritage Classic. Herrington competed in three divisions throughout the weekend, taking part in the 604 Late Model, Limited Late Model, and Street Stock ranks.
Herrington missed the $5,000-to-win Street Stock feature after finishing sixth in a B-Main, but raced his way into the $10,000-to-win Crate Racin’ USA feature, where he finished 17th.
His strongest performance came in the Limited Late Model ranks, where Herrington led all 30 laps en route to the $5,000 victory, finishing ahead of Bubba Roling to complete a wire-to-wire triumph.
The win marked Herrington’s third overall victory of the season.

Herrington now turns his focus to a two-state doubleheader weekend. He is slated to compete with the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals on Friday at Wythe Raceway in Virginia before traveling to Toccoa Raceway in Georgia on Saturday for a Coltman Farms Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event.
