Dillon McCowan Sweeps CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway
Rookie of the Year Contender Caps Off $41,000 Weekend

URBANA, Mo. (July 13, 2026) — Dillon McCowan punctuated the biggest weekend of his young career with another trip to victory lane on Saturday night.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Rookie of the Year contender with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series completed a perfect weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway by backing up Friday's preliminary feature victory with a $25,000 triumph in Saturday's CMH Diamond Nationals finale.

The sweep pushed McCowan's weekend earnings to more than $41,000 while delivering the first two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victories of his career.

"Oh my God, I love this place,” An emotional McCowan remarked in victory lane “I don't even know what to say. I had thought my whole life about what I would say last night, but I didn't have time to prepare a speech for tonight. I just wanted to make the show tonight and run in the top 10, and that would have been a good way to cap off the weekend after last night. I guess it wasn't a fluke. Brandon (Overton) drove an awesome race. He just got tight in Turns 1 and 2 one time, and JD and I had a heck of a race, too. Everybody raced real hard.”

McCowan's week began Thursday at Iowa's 34 Raceway, where he transferred into the opener by claiming the fourth-and-final transfer position in his heat race. After starting the 40-lap feature, he slipped back four positions to record an 18th-place finish.

The focus then shifted to Lucas Oil Speedway, where 42 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitors converged on the famed "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" for the CMH Diamond Nationals weekend.

McCowan earned a heat race victory on Friday to secure his spot in the Salute to Forrest Lucas preliminary feature before outrunning fellow Rookie of the Year contender Josh Rice to capture his first career LOLMDS victory. He drove past Rice on lap 29 and led the remainder of the 40-lap event to collect the $15,000 winner's check. McCowan also earned the $1,000 Steering Buddy Darkhorse Bonus Award.

Returning to the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday, the 22-year-old locked into the $25,000-to-win finale with a runner-up finish in his heat race. Starting fifth in the 50-lap main event, McCowan patiently worked his way through the field before overtaking Brandon Overton for the lead on lap 35. He controlled the final 16 circuits to complete the weekend sweep and secure his second consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory.

McCowan returns to action Tuesday as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visits Adams County Speedway before traveling to Shelby County Speedway for the Silver Dollar Nationals. The prestigious event debuts at its new home on Thursday and concludes Saturday with a $52,000-to-win finale.
