SHINNISTON, W.Va. (July 13, 2026) — Brandon Sheppard continued his championship-caliber 2026 campaign Thursday night, capturing his first career Slocum 50 victory at Iowa's 34 Raceway.

Sheppard piloted the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Rocket Chassis Late Model to a $15,000 triumph, marking his 10th victory of the season and his 42nd career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory.

“This feels amazing,” Sheppard said. “I’m super happy for promoter Brad Stevens and everyone involved with this race. I’ve been coming here for a number of years. I’ve finished second here a time or two and had some decent runs, but the past three or four years I just haven’t been very good here. The car was phenomenal tonight. Mark and the guys have given me a great piece night in and night out, and it’s been super consistent. We backed up a little bit at Muskingum last week, but the boys went to work this week and pretty well figured out what we did wrong. It was just some really small stuff.”

Sheppard's quest for his first win at 34 Raceway got off to a strong start as he topped his qualifying group before backing it up with a heat race victory. Starting second in the 18th annual Slocum 50 A-Main, Sheppard outran pole-sitter Brandon Overton to capture the 50-lap triumph.

The following two nights took the Rocket1 Racing team to Lucas Oil Speedway for the CMH Diamond Nationals. Opening the weekend with Friday's Salute to Forrest Lucas, Sheppard battled adversity after a lap-three spin and recovered to post a 16th-place finish.

Sheppard ended the weekend on a strong note, following up a heat race victory with a fourth-place finish in Saturday's $25,000-to-win CMH Diamond Nationals finale.

On the heels of a strong weekend, Sheppard reclaimed the top spot in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship standings.

Sheppard and the Rocket1 Racing team will quickly shift their focus to the next stretch of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule, beginning Tuesday at Adams County Speedway before heading to Shelby County Speedway for the Silver Dollar Nationals. The prestigious event debuts at its new home on Thursday and concludes Saturday with a $52,000-to-win main event.
