After a great getting to know you year with Lazer Chassis Rusty Schlenk is readying for more of the same in 2012.
“I'm setting my sights on the UMP National Championship again. As of now Im planning on running the complete Oakshade schedule due to their $8000 points fund. I want to incorporate a few more bigger paying shows into the schedule this year as well.“
Last season saw Rusty capture another Oakshade Raceway Late Model Championship, finish 2nd in UMP national points, and grind out 16 feature wins. To say his first trist with a Lazer chassis was a success is putting it mildly.
"So far it’s the best decision I’ve made in my career. Jim is awesome to work with not only on the cars, but in life in general. I’m looking forward to a long lasting victory filled career in LAZER Chassis!“
Rusty is aiming to hit the dirt for the first time in 2012 at the Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic in Clarksville, TN.
Until then you can get your race fan fix at the 2nd annual Rusty Schlenk Race Party. This years party will be held on Feb 4th, at the Fulton County Fairgrounds right down the road from Oakshade Raceway. Doors open at 5PM and you can purchase advanced discount tickets by contacting RSR at 567-202-7771. Tickets will be available at the door as well for $12 per person. There will be a hog roast, auction, door prizes, 50/50, DJ, full bar and keg trailer. Kids are welcome and there may be a few surprises. Rusty will also have RSR merch for sale. Last years party was a success and this years looks to be bigger and better so don't miss it.
Tonight Rusty added this little tidbit:
"RSR will be giving away a sponsorship at the race party on Feb 4th. I would not be where I'm at today without the help of sponsors so I would like to help another young driver that is serious about their career. I want to give a $250 gift certificate, and 10% discount all year towards any RSR parts, fuel, or service. All we ask is the winner run our logo in 2012 and provide us with an 8x10 photo for our race shop. The requirements to enter the drawing are: Must be 16 or younger...must be in attendance at the party...and must have raced 10 or more times in 2011!"
