Or should we say....High Gear?!?! The High Gear Speedshop Warrior Crate Car and race team of 15-year old Fairmont, WV driver, Flyin Ryan Montgomery has had a pretty exciting two week run....and they are working hard to ensure that success continues! After coming out on top to claim the competitive inaugural chase in 2011 for the Fastrak Futures Cup Title, Montgomery set his goals high for 2012 and would love to bring home a Fastrak Northeast Touring Series Championship. While his most recent sucess didn't come as quickly as the youngster might have liked, it has arrived....and in a big way!
Flyin Ryan won his second feature win of his 2012 season, but his first Fastrak Touring feature on Saturday, June 16th at the McKean County race. This was race # 7 of the 25-event touring series and has Ryan currently sitting in the fourth place spot. Ryan started off the night with a good run in his heat race where he finished in the second spot. After the redraw, Flyin Ryan started the feature event on the outside pole position. With the drop of the green, Flyin Ryan grabbed the lead spot and held it all the way till the finish with the wave of the black and white checkered flag!
Last week, the flyin Ryan Montgomery race team started off the weekend on Friday, June 8th, at the Dog Hollow Speedway for a Fastrak Northeast Touring Race. Montgomery banked a solid 4th place finish in his #12 High Gear Speed Shop Warrior car. Then on to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Saturday, June 9th. Flyin Ryan claimed a win in his heat race which landed him on the pole for the feature. Ryan and verteran, Nolan Dalton really put on a great show for the fans. The veteran and youngster raced door to door for several laps but at the end of the 20-lap feature, Montgomery claimed his first feature win of the 2012 season! On Sunday, June 10th, Flyin Ryan and the High Gear Speed Shop landed the red #12 car at the Cannonball Motor Speedway. Montgomery ended his heat race n the 3rd spot which landed him in the 6th spot for the feature race. At the drop of the checkered flag, Montgomery closed the weekend with a solid 5th place finish.
This weekend, the Flyin Ryan and High Gear Speed Shop team will be looking to continue their successful pace at Sharon Speedway.
