Ray Cook Readies for SRRS Tripleheader on Heels of Top Five Wythe Effort!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the D&R Motorsports team continued their strong 2012 season on Saturday night, June 23 at the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolled into the 1/2-mile facility to sanction a $10,000 to win program. Ray qualified well, but later battled a loose racecar in the heat race and slipped back to sixth. Following a second place run in his B-Main, Ray started the 50-lap main event from the outside of the tenth row.

In front of an overflow crowd, the Brasstown, North Carolina ace went for a spin on lap five to bring out the caution, which lined him up starting twenty-fifth for the restart. Ray was then on the move throughout the remainder of the 'Blue Ridge 50,' as proceeded to climb all the way inside of the top five. At the completion of the race, Ray was credited with a stellar fourth place performance behind only winner John Blankenship, Jonathan Davenport, and Dale McDowell. Complete results from Saturday at Wythe can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

The #53 team will now turn their sights to a trio of Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) events in the Volunteer State of Tennessee leading up to the 4th of July holiday. As it stands currently, Ray is set to invade the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday, June 30 ($3,000 to win), the 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee on Monday, July 2 ($3,000 to win), and the Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, Tennessee on Tuesday, July 3 ($4,000 to win). Additional information on the next three races on Ray’s 2012 schedule can be located online at www.southernregionalracingseries.com.
