Brady Smith Rallies to Seventh in Season Finale at Knoxville Raceway
(SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN) Brady Smith Racing returned to competition on September 26-28 in the 10th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' at the hallowed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The three-day Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series extravaganza kicked off with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary programs. On Thursday, Brady Smith unfortunately failed to transfer into the 25-lap feature event after finishing fourth in his heat race and thirteenth in the B-Main. At Knoxville on Friday, Brady scored the win in his stacked heat race prior to posting a respectable twelfth place performance in the 25-lapper.
Things really ratcheted up at the 1/2-mile Marion County Fairgrounds facility on Saturday evening, as a whopping $40,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.' Brady, who had earned the twenty-first most single-night points in the preliminary shows, rolled off from the inside of the eleventh row in the 100-lap crown jewel main event. The Solon Springs, Wisconsin ace then stayed out of trouble during the rough and tumble race to claim a strong seventh place effort in the extra-distance affair, which is scheduled to be his season finale. Brady and his #2 team entered thirty-nine (39) Dirt Late Model events during the 2013 campaign, which kicked off back in February at Bubba (FL) Raceway Park. The driver known as “The Prodigy†racked up two (2) wins, twelve (12) Top Fives, and twenty-two (22) Top Tens during his season. Brady’s two victories came in a $10,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show on May 11 at LaSalle (IL) Speedway and in the $3,500 ‘Labor Day Shootout’ on September 1 at Hibbing (MN) Raceway.
Brady also performed well in some of the biggest events on his schedule, as he finished second in the $20,000 to win ‘Bad Boy 98’ at Batesville (AR) Motor Speedway, fourth in the $30,000 to win ‘Show-Me 100’ at Lucas Oil (MO) Speedway, and seventh in the $40,000 to win ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ at Knoxville (IA) Raceway.
