Austin Theiss Banks Pair of Top Tens in Weekend Action
Hockley, Texas (05/08/14) - After battling several outings of bad luck Austin Theiss finally enjoyed a strong pair of runs over the weekend in his #7D Theiss Motorsports/LG21/Mullins Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.
Austin Theiss took in a pair of events over the course of the weekend in his home state of Texas. The weekend opened on Friday evening at Mountain Creek Speedway (Grand Prairie, Texas) with the Texas Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS). Austin started fifth in his heat race and went on to advance to a second place finish, later drawing the pole position for the feature event. He would battle at the front of the pack throughout the event before settling to a third place finish in the end. Complete results are available at www.TexasMods.com .
On Saturday night the action shifted to Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) for a Gulf Coast Modified Touring Series (GCMTS) event. A fifth to third run in his heat race earned Theiss the fifth starting spot for the main event. Austin raced amongst the top five for much of the event before registering a sixth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results from the event can be found at www.GulfCoastModifieds.com .
"After the luck we've had so far this year to grab a pair of good finishes feels like a win," said Theiss. "Hopefully we can continue to build on our momentum and grab our first win of the 2014 season in the next few weeks."
The team will not race anywhere this weekend, but plans to return to action May 14th-17th with a miniseries of United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) action. The first event will be held on Wednesday, May 14th at the legendary Devil's Bowl Speedway (Mesquite, Texas) before moving to Lawton Speedway (Lawton, Oklahoma) the next night. The four race swing draws to a close with events at Longdale Speedway (Longdale, Oklahoma) and Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) on Friday and Saturday night. For more information on the events please visit www.USMTS.com .
