Jacob Hawkins Wins Renegades of Dirt Thriller at Tyler County
Fairmont, West Virginia (08/07/14) – Jacob Hawkins stepped away from Super Late Model competition over the weekend to enter a Renegades of Dirt Open Wheel Modified event at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) on Sunday evening, and he made the most of his outing with a victory in the thriller.
The $2,000-to-win program drew a stout field of thirty-two Open Wheel Modifieds to the 1/4 oval. Jacob started his outing by claiming a heat race win to lock into the 30 lap finale aboard the #13 2Brothers Motorsports owned machine. The main event would be anything but disappointing as Hawkins snared the lead at the halfway mark. But the war was far from over as Taylor Cook and Rich Michael entered the fray, battling three-wide with Jacob for the top spot. At the finish line it was Hawkins, who came out ahead with Cook less than half a second behind. Michael finished third followed by Kyle Strickler and KC Burdette. The victory marked his fourth overall of the 2014 campaign.
