Pierce McCarter Opens 2015 with Top Five Run; Ice Bowl Next
Gatlinburg, Tennessee (01/06/15) – Pierce McCarter and the McCarter Brothers Racing team officially opened their 2015 campaign on Thursday during the 5th Annual Hangover 40 at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee).
Despite cold temperatures, a stout field of forty-six Super Late Models converged on the 3/8 mile oval to do battle in front of an immense crowd. Pierce started his outing by timing in fourth fastest in Group A during qualifications, earning him the pole position for his heat race. He charged to a convincing heat race victory to lock into the sixth starting spot for the 40 lap, $4,000-to-win finale.
When the race went green, McCarter quickly made his way into the top five in his #51 Club 29 Super Late Model, inheriting the third position on lap thirteen when Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) retired with a flat right rear tire. Pierce held the third position for much of the event until contact from a lapped car sent him spinning into the infield off turn four. Series rules forced McCarter to restart at the tail of the lead-lap cars with six laps remaining. He went on to charge back in the closing laps to a solid fourth place finish behind race winner, Donald McIntosh, Walker Arthur and Stephen Breeding. Jeremy Hines rounded out the top five finishers.

Next on tap for the McCarter Brothers Racing team will be a trip south to the historic Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) for the 24th Annual Ice Bowl. Mack McCarter will chase the $6,000 top prize in Super Late Model competition, while his brother, Pierce, will go after the $3,000 winner’s check in the Crate Late Model division.
