Jeff Taylor Digs Deep for Dakota Classic Mod Tour Win

Cave City, Arkansas (07/13/15) –Jeff Taylor competed in the grueling Dakota Classic Mod tour last week in his Industrial Electric #5 Allgayer, Inc/Taylor Chassis Open Wheel Modified, where he came away with a victory and a third place finish in the final standings.

Taylor snared his lone victory in the series on Monday evening at Estevan Motor Speedway (Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada). With 83 Open Wheel Modifieds on hand for the $2,100 to win event, Jeff Taylor battled back in the feature after losing seven spots in his heat. Starting in 15th, Taylor staged a great, late-race battle with Aaron Turnbull in the closing laps. The duo traded slide jobs on the last lap with Taylor winning a drag race to the checkers. Jeff scored his 6th victory of the season ousting Aaron Turnbull, Spencer Wilson, Aaron Marriott and Ricky Thorton Jr.

During the course of the six-race affair, which averaged 88 entries, Jeff collected a pair of top five finishes to go with his triumph, and was just nine points removed from the lead, entering the final event at Jamestown Speedway (Jamestown, North Dakota) on Friday evening. Unfortunately rain interrupted the program before it could be completed, leaving officials with no choice but to deem the miniseries complete. Jeff finished 3rd in the final standings.

“We had a great time running the tour again,” said Taylor. “There are so many great drivers on it, and we dug ourselves a bit of a hole to start the deal. You just can’t do that with these guys. Congratulations to Ricky Thornton Jr. on scoring the title.

Jeff Taylor now prepares for a week that will hold two big events in the IMCA Modified ranks. On Wednesday night he will enter a Hawkeye Dirt Tour event that will be held as part of the Southern Iowa Fair at Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, Iowa). On Thursday evening the Harris Clash will thunder into the legendary Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa).
