While the summer heats up, Tyler Bare and Booper Bare Racing show no signs of cooling off as they pick up 2015 win No.4
As morning dawned over the Blue Grass Farms race shop of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia’s Tyler Bare, it became apparent that a storm system along the coast was going to interfere with the plans for the night. Originally, Tyler and team were scheduled to head east for a Saturday night race at Virginia Motor Speedway, but when the call came in that VMS was canceled due to the rain they had a decision to make. After looking at all their options, it was decided to load up the Rhodenizer Heating & Air, MBH No. 30 and head a couple hours north up Interstate 81 to Winchester Speedway, which was hosting a RUSH sanctioned crate event. That decision turned out to be a great one, because when the dust settled, Bare and the team were in victory lane having their pictures taken, as Tyler had just picked up his first career Winchester victory. Earlier, a 2nd place finish in his competitive heat race would transfer him directly into the nights 20 lap feature, where Tyler would draw the number 5 for his starting spot. Bare showed great patience as he cautiously moved his Southlex Cattle Company/Wood Heavy Equipment sponsored mount towards the front taking over the runner up spot on lap 8. On lap 12, after stalking the leader for a couple of laps, Tyler made his move with an outside pass for the lead and cruised from that point on, picking up the popular victory. A victory that was pretty special to the Bare Family as Tyler joined his Dad & Grandfather on the list of feature winners at the famed Virginia speedway.
Last weekend started off locally, with a trip to Natural Bridge Speedway last Friday where Tyler would bring home another strong finish. After starting 6th, Bare would pick up a couple spots on a tough to pass track to bring home a fine 4th place finish. Tyler was running his Crate against the tracks Late Models and finished ahead of a lot of teams with much more motor than what Bare had. A big congratulations goes out to Larry Ramsey on picking up the win.
The week prior, the team saw action in two different states during the Independence weekend. First up, Booper Bare Racing towed to Elkins Raceway in West Virginia where they after starting 3rd, would end up with a runner up finish in the nights Fastrak sanctioned feature. Since they were already in the area, they headed to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania for a special Sunday Rush Sectioned race. The Octane Race Parts/HTMA car was fast all night as the Kenny Lamb Racing Engine was on point. Tyler was about a second faster than the other competitors during warm-ups at a track he had never previously been on. During the feature the KRS Graphics/Conner Produce Co./Designs No.30 looked like the car to beat from the green but an early spin would relegate the 21 year old to the back of the pack. From that point on, Bare sliced his way through the competitive field to battle for second only to come up short as the laps ran out. It was bitter sweet as the whole team was happy with the 3rd place finish but they left knowing they had the car to win.
“We have had a great few races these past 2 weeks†said Bare, when reached on the farm Tuesday. “My whole team takes a lot of pride in making sure our stuff is prepared as perfect as possible when we load up to head to a race. I think our finishes show that we have been fast right when we unload and it makes the night go easier when we can chase the track instead of chasing the car. I am just so grateful for this opportunity, my parents sacrifice a lot to allow me to do this and without my crew and the great batch of sponsors I have, we couldn’t race at the level we do. There has been a race car racing out of our farm for over 45 years and I am happy to be able to carry on the tradition†added Tyler.
This coming weekend, the team plans to return to Elkins Raceway to race both Friday and Saturday. Friday is a Fastrak Mid-Season Championship paying $2,000 to win with Saturday being a regular race that pays $1,000.
