Jason Hughes Takes Second USMTS Title; Makes History at Fall Jamboree
Westville, Oklahoma (09/29/15) – Jason Hughes not only claimed his second United States Modified Touring Series championship over the weekend in his West Siloam Pawn #12 Hughes Race Car, but he also made history at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) by becoming the first driver to ever sweep all three nights of the Featherlite Fall Jamboree in the seventeen year history of the event.

With a four point lead on Rodney Sanders, Jason hoped to bring home his second USMTS National Championship on Thursday night. With ninety-one competitors entered, Hughes stormed to the front in his heat from the 12th starting spot to claim the victory. Starting in 2nd for the feature, Jason Hughes overtook Jason Krohn to score the $5,000 payday along with the USMTS National Championship. Clinching his 9th victory of the season, Hughes was trailed to the finish line by Krohn, Brandon Davis, Kelly Shryock, and Tim Donlinger.
The following night for the USMTS sanctioned 17th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Jason Hughes captured a heat race win transferring him into the A-Main with the 12th place starting spot. Battling for a $5,000 payday, Jason Hughes made his move to the lead on the final lap of the race, gaining eleven spots to score his second straight victory of the weekend. Brining his win tally to ten on the season, Jason Hughes outdueled Rodney Sanders, Joe Duvall, Brad Waits, and Stormy Scott in the 40-lap feature event.
Wrapping up the busy, yet successful weekend on Saturday evening, Jason Hughes started in the 12th position in his heat race. Hughes improved eight spots in his heat, edging his way into the main event. With $10,000 on the line, Jason charged to the front of the field to pull off the first ever three-win sweep of the Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Bringing his weekend payday to $20,000, Hughes captured a $10,000 payday on Saturday along with his eleventh victory of the season. Gaining eleven spots in the 50-lap A-Main, Jason Hughes ousted Rodney Sanders, Tim Donlinger, Brad Wiats, and Bobby Malchus in the feature.

The upcoming weekend, October 1st-3rd, will take Jason to one of his favorite tracks as he invades Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor, Oklahoma) for the 3rd Annual Sooner Showdown. Thursday night’s program is highlighted by a $1,500-to-win program, while Saturday will post a $2,000 winner’s check, and Saturday will reward the victor with a $2,500 purse. If a driver can win two nights, then they will receive a $1,000 bonus, while a weekend sweep posts a $4,000 bonus. Jason won two of three events in 2014 and will look for a clean sweep this weekend.
