Tyler Bare picks up win No.7 on the year with his convincing victory in the Winchester Speedway Small Car Nationals.
Yearly, fall is always beautiful throughout Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and you can tell with every passing day it is getting closer to that time of year again. The leaves are ready to make their change into vibrant colors and the evening chill is starting overtake the night every time the sun vanishes over the horizon. What that means for the 2015 racing season is that it is in its final laps. The nice thing, if there is one about the season coming to an end is that the schedule is dotted with some prestigious higher paying races for Booper Bare Racing’s driver Tyler Bare to showcase his talents behind the wheel of the Southlex Cattle Co./Blue Grass Farm/Lee-Hi Truck Parts No.30. This past weekend, was one of those events as the team loaded up and traveled a couple hours north to participate in Winchester Virginia’s Small Car Nationals. The event, spread over 2 days would pay the division winner a cool $1,000 for 30 laps of work around the smooth 3/8 mile speedway.
The weekend started off last Friday night with time trails for the 24 cars in attendance all with the same goal in mind and that was to leave Saturday with the championship trophy. Tyler would lay down the 5th fastest lap of all the cars in attendance which in turn would start him on the front row of his competitive heat race. The younger Bare would wheel the World Wide Racing Fuels/Sunoco/Penske Shocks, MBH race car to a runner up finish, transferring him directly into the night’s dash. Luck of the draw would put him on the pole for the dash which Tyler won in dominating fashion, awarding him the pole for Saturday’s 30 lap finale. The crew worked hard Saturday, servicing the car in between the rain drops that plagued the east coast last weekend. By race time, the rain had moved out and the Bill Weeks Garage/Wood Heavy Equipment/Conner Produce Co. mount was ready to go. Making final adjustments after looking at the surface, Tyler was the final car on the grid and assumed his pole position as the field rolled out. The adjustments were the correct ones as once the green flag fell, Bare would lead the entire distance, turning back challengers, while battling through lapped cars and even about 10 laps of a light rain that started to fall midway through the event. After the checkered waved on the Abshire’s Handyman Service/DeSigns No. 30, Tyler headed to tech inspection, where after the top three were inspected and all found to be legal, he would officially be awarded his 7th win of 2015 and his 2nd of the year at the Winchester, Virginia oval.
“It was great to win the Small Car Nationals†said Tyler via phone late Tuesday. “Billy and the guys did an outstanding job all weekend and the pressure was really on them with a few last minute changes. I cannot thank them enough as the car was perfect in the open air as well as the lap car traffic late in the race. Jim (Stevens) really had our Penske shocks perfect all weekend. His knowledge and friendship help us out so much and is greatly appreciated. I really love racing with the drivers we do, there is so much good competition in this class and it is fun to have to get up on the wheel with these guys and girls. I am the guy who gets to drive it but my family, crew & sponsors are the reason I do and I am very grateful†added the 21 year old, third generation chauffeur.
