Three Conley’s Transfer into Buckeye Nationals; CMI Preps for PRP and Atomic
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley all trekked to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on May 13-14 for the inaugural running of the 'Buckeye Nationals.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the two-day extravaganza, which boasted a whopping $50,000 payday and drew a stellar field of 49 entrants. On Friday night during preliminary action, R.J. qualified third quickest in Group A and Rod timed in fifth fastest in Group B, while Delmas laid down the fourteenth best time in Group A. All three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers then advanced into the main event through their respective heat races, as R.J. and Delmas finished second and Rod brought home a third place prelim performance.
When the 75-lap headliner went green on Saturday evening, each of the three Wheelersburg, Ohio pilots had their sights solely set on the lucrative $50k winner's check. At the end of the action-packed race, "Hot Rod" was the lone CMI driver on the track and he crossed underneath the checkers in the thirteenth position. R.J. and Delmas both retired prematurely and finished twentieth and twenty-fourth respectively in the final rundown of the 'Buckeye Nationals.' The Conley clan will be out in full force this Saturday, May 21, as J.T. Conley plans to join the rest of his family in Super Late Model action. Delmas, R.J., and J.T. are scheduled to tackle the 2016 season lid lifter at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, which will pay $2,000 to the winner. Rod, on the other hand, will venture back to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio for a weekly show that features a $2,250 top prize.
