Late Models, Late Models and More Late Models at I-80

Late Models, Late Models and More Late Models at I-80

If you love late model racing then I-80 Speedway is the place to be Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25. It’s Cornhusker Classic time and while six classes (including Grand National Late Models) will be qualifying on Friday and Saturday for their features on Sunday, it also means a complete Super Late Model program each night.

On Friday, September 23 the Corn Belt Clash (CBC) and Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) will be co-sanctioning a complete Super Late Model program with the feature paying $2,000 to win and $400 to start. On Saturday it’s another complete CBC/MLRA program with the feature paying $3,000 to win and $400 to start. Then, on Sunday it’s time for the Super Late Model Racing Series (SLMR). When the SLMR last visited I-80 Speedway on September 4, a huge field of 48 late models signed in for the event.

Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kansas, a 7-time MLRA Champion is once again a top the MLRA point standings followed by Nebraskans John Anderson, Kyle Berck and Joe Kosiski with Missouri’s David Turner rounding out the top five. The Corn Belt Clash point race is a family affair with Mount Vernon, Iowa’s Chad Simpson holding a slim 6 point lead over his brother Chris. Tim Isenberg, Jason Utter and Jason Rauen round out the top five in the CBC point standings.

In the SLMR point race, Travis (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)es of Madison, Nebraska holds a commanding 46 point lead. Leon Zeitner, Kyle Berck, Mike Wiarda and Joe Kosiski complete the top five in SLMR points. Racing starts on Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 5pm. Grandstand Admission is $20 on Friday and Saturday and $15 on Sunday. For more information, visit www.I-80Speedway.com.
