MLRA has been co-sanctioning events at I-80 since 2002
The Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) has been sanctioning races at I-80 Speedway since the 2002 Soup Race won by Kyle Berck which was MLRA & NCRA co-sanctioned. Since that time the MLRA has made at least one visit a year to I-80 Speedway.
This year, the MLRA came to I-80 for the Spring Meltdown under new leadership as Lucas Oil purchase the series from Harriett & Cowboy Chancellor. The Chancellor's had been the MLRA since the end of the 1996 racing season.
Following this week's action in Kansas, Will Vaught is the current MLRA point leader with Terry Phillips & Brad Looney tied just 12 points behind Vaught. Defending Series Champion John Anderson of Omaha is in fourth place with Jesse Stovall & Tony Jackson, Jr. tied for fifth.
This Friday, June 28, the MLRA along with the Corn Belt Clash and MARS Dirt Car Series will be back at I-80 Speedway for the 12th Annual Alphabet Soup Race. The Super Late Model feature will pay $3,700 to win. Also racing will be the A Mods for $1,200 to win, B Mods for $400 to win and Hornets for $100 to win. Grandstand Admission is $20 for Adults, $5 for Juniors (6-12) with ages 5 and under free. The grandstands open at 5:30 pm with racing at 7:15 pm.
