MOYER & BLOOMQUIST EXIT FLORIDA ATOP LATE MODEL POWER RANKINGS
story by: STEVE HIXSON
(2/19/11) ---- Picking up where they both left off in 2010... Billy Moyer and Scott Bloomquist are atop the Late Model Power RANKINGS points system, exiting Florida's SPEEDWEEKS from Tampa and Daytona. The drivers known as MR. SMOOTH and BLACK SUNSHINE have amassed a total of fifteen (15) Top-5 finishes in the Dirt Late Model nation, winning a total of seven (7) times since the second event of the season in Arizona. Both picked up three SPEEDWEEKS/WINTERNATIONALS victories while in Florida raking-in, in the neighborhood of $30,000 for their efforts. If it hadn't been for the REAL DEAL's pair of victories in Ocala and Volusia their numbers would've been greater as both were in the Top-5 during Don O'Neal's victory lane celebrations. The Martinsville Indiana racing legend sits third in the RANKINGS, his highest mark to date in the four year system,
Despite Jimmy Owens' early exit of Florida, the Newport, Tennessee native shares 4th in the RANKINGS with Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, Wisconsin. Fellow PACKER-BACKER Brady Smith had a score of Top-5's to take 6th in the RANKINGS ahead of Shane Clanton, Tyler Red(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), Brad Neat, Tim McCreadie and Austin Hubbard whom all share the 50-note of points tallies. Josh Richards leaves Florida with the most shocking numbers. KID-ROCKET tallied only three (3) 4th place finishes and one (1) fifth place nod, failing to leave Florida with a win for the first time in atleast four years. Rick Eckert is up in the standings better than he was all of last season, with a pair of Top-5's exiting Florida. Wrapping up the Top-20 of the standings are Earl Pearson Jr., Jonathan Davenport, Dan Schleiper, Steve Francis, Ray Cook, Vic Coffey and Jared Landers. Next weekend raceteam have a possible $10,000 payday that many Southern racers will take advantage of entering. The BAMA BASH will likely draw-out Clanton, Cook and Davenport to the SRRS opener in Glencoe, Alabama Sunday the 27th.
