Rest in peace to both Bobby Allison and Carl Trimmer. Both just passed at age 86. Carl was the most prolific winner in a 50 year career on both dirt and asphalt in Arizona.
Bobby Allison, what can we say. He was really a racer for the the fans. A storied career coming up through short tracks on both dirt and pavement, a NASCAR career that had him third on the win list plus being a champ. Bobby continued to race short tracks during his NASCAR career and came up to race in my area many times. I really liked Bobby Allison. Many times my heart went out to Bobby for what he had gone through. A wreck that nearly killed him, the loss of two sons, and a many difficult and trying days thereafter. May he now be blessed and at peace.
I always thought that NASCAR should have done more for him. He should have been their special ambassador to the sport after all he had given to the sport.
