Hunt the Front and Tony Adair Announce Partnership to Co-Promote Cherokee Speedway
New Partners to Launch Six-Race Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Challenge Series Paying $10,000 to Inaugural Champion
GAFFNEY, S.C. (Nov. 11, 2024) — Hunt the Front, the popular YouTube channel and Dirt Late Model race team, is excited to announce a strategic partnership with longtime Cherokee Speedway promoter Tony Adair to co-promote the historic South Carolina dirt track beginning in the 2025 season. This collaboration promises to bring new energy to the iconic “Place Your Mama Warned You About” including the all new Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Challenge Series paying $10,000 to the inaugural champion, plus a new date and an event record payout for the track’s marquee race, the 35th annual Blue-Gray 100.
Adair, who has successfully promoted or co-promoted Cherokee Speedway for the past eight years, will continue to manage the track’s local racing programs and major events for local divisions. Meanwhile, Hunt the Front will oversee Cherokee’s premier Super Late Model events as part of the new Cherkoee Chief Series.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Tony Adair and work together to make Cherokee Speedway an even greater destination for dirt track racing,” said Joshua Joiner, who will lead Hunt the Front’s involvement at the track. “Tony’s dedication to local racing is unmatched, and we’re eager to bring our unique perspective and energy to the track’s biggest Super Late Model races.”

Introducing the Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Challenge Series
As part of the new partnership, Cherokee Speedway will launch the Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Challenge Series, a six-race mini-series featuring the Cherkoee’s most prestigious Super Late Model events. The series will offer a total $20,000 championship points fund, with $10,000 awarded to the inaugural Cherokee Chief Champion. The new mini-series will stream exclusively on Hunt the Front TV.
The 2025 Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Challenge Series schedule includes:
March Madness / Ginger Owens Memorial — Sunday, March 2 — $15,000 to win
● This early-season showdown is one of Cherokee’s most historic events. Known for drawing the best drivers from the Southeast and across the country, the race always kicks off the racing season in thrilling fashion.
Mike Duvall Memorial — Saturday, May 3 — $20,000 to win
● Co-sanctioned by the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and named in honor of the late “Flintstone Flyer” Mike Duvall, this race pays tribute to one of Cherokee Speedway’s most beloved figures, whose innovative spirit and dedication left an indelible mark on dirt racing.
Grassy Smith Memorial — Saturday, June 21 — $10,000 to win
● This event honors Grassy Smith, the father of Hall of Fame driver Freddy Smith, and a key figure in the development of dirt racing in the Southeast. The race has become a staple at Cherokee, celebrating the contributions of the Smith family to the sport.
Stick Elliott Memorial — Saturday, September 20 — 10,000-to-win
● A tribute to local racing legend Stick Elliott, this event commemorates a fierce competitor and fan favorite who was a dominant force on dirt tracks throughout the region.
Blue-Gray 100 — Friday, October 10 & Saturday, October 11 — $35,000 to win
● In honor of the 35th running of the prestigious event, the marquee Blue-Gray 100 moves to a new date that will allow the event to be run at night and return to its traditional 100-lap format. The event will also offer a record payout with the winner scoring a $35,000 payday and every main event starter earning at least $1,500. Co-sanctioned by the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and serving as the final race in the chase for the tour’s $50,000 championship, the event offers a possible $85,000 payday for one driver.
Freddy Smith Memorial — November — Full details to be announced
● Along with deciding the first-ever Cherokee Chief Champion, this inaugural event honors legendary Dirt Late Model driver Freddy Smith. Known as the “Southern Gentleman,” Smith was a pioneer in the sport and a dominant force at Cherokee throughout his career. His legacy as one of the most respected and accomplished drivers in Dirt Late Model history makes him a fitting namesake for this special race.
In addition to the Super Late Model schedule, Adair and his staff are hard at work planning an exciting slate of local division races that will make for a great 2025 season. The schedule will include events such as the Street Stock Showdown, World Crown 4-Cylinder Nationals, the V8 Tribal Nationals, and more.
