I can't help but to get a laugh from this comment, Usually you are commenting implying supers are too super now days, but here you're saying weekly supers aren't super enough. Sounds like you found a place you can go and race since the ones in that area aren't that super.

You clearly don't understand anything I've posted. Super are too aero. They are also too spec.

Giving them tons of down force doesn't make them more super. Making the rulebook 100 pages definitely doesn't.

I'm referring to it the way a fan would. Guys filling the field with outdated bodies and limited engine or crate.

Crates are a joke and wasted class!!! The whole 602/604 craze is stupidity. I can build fr better wiyh same money as Crate costs and have way more fun in stocks, limiteds, econo mod, or even a steel block type car. Only one loving crate is couple getting rich series and GM

I agree with Jim. I'm one of the guys who has built his own engines since I got into this rat race in the '60s. Had to learn how but, like most, I was a broke kid with no money and no backing. The price of a 604 is more than the most expensive thing I've ever built for myself and a helluva lot more fun, I guarantee.

I think what he is saying is, that due to the rise in cost to build a "Top Level" super late model, that many of the weekly cars in the super class are "now" not AS super as they once were. At least that is how I took it. (ie Limited lates running in super as field fillers)

I could not agree more with you. Mr Fastrak originally billled his series as "Blue Collar" and low budget, but he didn't get as much participation as he wanted and quickly shifted to GM sponsorship, bigger purses and courting super drivers to double dip. It quickly became a series for super guys to earn more money and those non-pro's got left behind real quick. Before crate nonsense Limited lates had nearly full fields every saturday night, then everybody moved to 604 and limited dwindled to a handful weekly. 602 are even worse, complete junk. Sadly average Joe actually believes making everybody run a 602 makes it more likely he'll win, but he still hasn't washed his car and keeps driving poorly, so it didn't help him at all, it just made everyone else stuck with junk.

Brownstown Indiana was once one of the 5 best weekly late models fields in America, but they have a field full of ex super guys in crates. Illinois has it as good as it gets these days, but a lot of the cars at a weekly show are arguably not that super, from what I've seen.

Probably so in some areas. Supers are still pretty strong in the midwest tho. Especially in the central Illinois area.

The people that believe you have to have every trick to be fast are the same guys crying about absolutely everything. Mean while they haven't washed the car or scaled it in weeks...

Not the point I’m making, I agree with you. There is a lot of wasteful spending on the trick stuff, especially on the local level.

Horsepower wise have we gotten to the point where building a similarly powered Big Block might be more co$t effective than the wide bore SBC stuff? Putting weight aside... I know the previously mentioned 1100 HP Big Block was insane and unmanageable, but would a 900 HP Big Block be less expensive to achieve than a similarly powered wide bore SBC?
