The northern California, northern Nevada and southern Oregon Pro Stock/Super Stock/Super Streets have formed a series with very loose rules for the cars with a five race series with good bucks up for grabs. Basically you are allowed to run the rules for any of the different groups with only a few limitations. Must be a stock stub, all steel engine mounted straight up-no setback.
The rules are all over the place for the different groups with minimum weights from 2,700-3,000 pounds, tires from G-60s to any 11" tire to 10-1/2" asphalt take offs, 2 to 4 barrel carbs, stock type trannies to Brinn type internal clutch, gas to alcohol, etc. etc. We've run with all 3 groups and they are surprisingly competitive with each other
Tracks vary from rock hard & gritty to very sticky. Siskyou Speedway in Yreka, Ca kicks it off tomorrow night with $2,000 to win the Billy Geyer Memorial. Cedarville Speedway in the very top corner of CA has the Gordon Russell Memorial with another $2,000 to win show in June. The show at Fernley 95A Speedway in Nevada is another month away with $1,000 to win. The series ends in September with a $1,000 to win Show at Stockton Dirt Track and a few weeks later again at Stockton with $5,000 to win the Al Miller Memorial show.
These shows are all the result of a lot of hard work by a dedicated group of racers who raise the purse money & sponsorships and love this class, as do we. There's been a huge amount of interest from several states and car counts should be terrific. We leave before dawn Saturday to try our luck and, most of all, have fun. Isn't that what this sport is all about ?
