    Gear advice

Would anyone like to offer a suggestion as to what gear to put into an IMCA Northern SportMod? Claim engine, running on a 3/8mi track. We want to turn about 6000 RPMs. If 9" gears weren't so expensive or if quick changes were allowed I'd keep this question to myself. Thanks

I'd prefer a 5.67, however I think it would turn more than you'd like, so a 5.43 maybe.

your running a claim engine so you have to run a 500 cfm 2bl carb. which will not let the engine build rpm's as fast as a 4 bl. carb so I'm thinking more in the 5:83 area maybe even a 6:00 if the track is an old fairgrounds track (flat for horse races)If I understand the rules you have a 9;1 compression with that 2bl carb. do you have a 3-link,leaf spring or stock rear susp.?

It is a Dirt Works combo car. It can be set up with 3 or 4 different rear suspension options. But for this class, it is a 3 link rear suspension.

go with the 5:83 in my oppinion it's your best choice given the rules.
