    Help!! Carb Gremlin

Chasing a carb gremlin i think.

Particulars: 604 with a willys 604 crate carb on AV Gas. Driver says it does fine on straight away, once he picks up throttle on exit it spits + sputters like it's hitting the chip. Floats adjusted up + down, jets richer + leaner, still no change. Could it be a bad power valve? Seems to only happen on corner exit. Thanks..

    Sounds ignition related.

Under load will more than likely be ignition or an internal engine problem.

Fuel pressure? If your not regulated then you could be flooding the motor when you back out of the gas on entry .

Thanks for the suggestions, did talk to willys today and got some good info and have a few things to check. not sure it's the carb, maybe good ole MSD. Carb is regulated but I gotta check the floats and such. Thanks again for the input and if you have anything else please post. Was doing some interesting reading on grounding each head and block, I will definately be running some grounds reguardless of any other issues.

Do you use the grounding straps or reg battery type cable?

Make sure a battery post (or cable) is not shorting out somewhere.

I had exact same symptoms once and it turned out that the battery positive post was hitting against a new stick of lead I had added. It only hit against it when I would get on the gas coming off the corner. The chassis flexed just enough for the post to hit the lead bar.

We initially thought it was a carb problem...

yeah we are running down every wire, willys didn't seem to think it was a carb issue either. Only way to tell at this point is go over everything and see what happens on the track. Hey Stock Car, where you finding your grounding straps? i checked with some auto parts stores and all they can come up with is 12" straps.
