Default Looking for a reusable valve cover gasket for sbc.

I am tired of cork gaskets leaking even the 5/16 thick ones. I am using steel covers and stock heads so I don't have a machined surface to work with.

Fel-Pro VS12869T. These gaskets have a metal shim embossed into them and they seal pretty good. Completey reusable. Also, with stock heads, I would recommend upgraded to a cast aluminum valve cover. The mouting surface is incredibly stronger than stamped steel, also you do not need to use the steel hold downs. I have a couple of sets of the Speedway cast aluminum (https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speed...num,32982.html). Also Speedway sells these valve cover gaskets (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/SuperS...1986,1872.html). Hope this helps. Also these gaskets and covers are for non-vortec style heads. They are the perimeter bolts sytle.

The Speedway ones are what I use. On my first install I put 4 dabs of silicone on the valve cover side and snug them down. Then when you go to remove them they stay with the cover, and stay lined up with bolt holes.

The blue Moroso's with the steel shim. we used a set of those under cast covers on Dart heads for literally 5 years, pulling them off after every race to run valves, check springs, etc.

I reuse these a lot. Expensive, but they seal on the oem head.
