Can you use a bert coupler with a brinn transmission?

Transmission doesn't matter Just be sure if you have a brinn bellhousing use a brinn flywheel, or a bert bellhousing use a bert flywheel. Bert flywheel is a little smaller, will work in a brinn bellhousing for a while, but after so long it will knock the teeth off as the starter isn't getting into the flywheel deep enough. Learned this the hard way!

I ran into this exact problem earlier this season. Keep the coupler matched with the bellhousing.

If you do some measuring, you will see the subtle differences that will not allow one bellhousing to work with another coupler.
