Huge Francis fan but have been saying it for a few years now that he would be better off running regional stuff now. There are plenty good shows close to home like PRP and Atomic.

Doesn't he now live in Bowling Green, KY? Not close to PRP & Atomic

I think he does. That's still a decent place to live and run regionally. Within about 3 hours he could be at Brownstown, Duck River, Florence, Clarksville, Crossville...etc.
-
I hope he doesn't hang it up.. would rather see Francis run locally than anything.. he has tons of tracks that could keep them busy and would probably make more $$$
-
He can still drive but he needs to get out of that CAPITAL race car and get in a Rocket or Longhorn
-
I would not have a capital car if theay was free a lot off pople done left captial
-
I wouldnt be surprised to see Steve get the Blount Motorsports ride.

Not saying to run for a track championship or anything hell Florence is a 3 hour drive that wouldn't be bad. Also the numerous times I've talked to him in the pits this year he just doesn't seem to be that into it anymore like these other guys

I think his best days are behind him. Wouldn't hurt for him to scale back.
Same with EPJ and Chub.

If he would walk away from from his steady money sponsor (not advertised heavily on the car) he would do a lot better. I know money talks but i wouldnt let it be the reason I retired. He found the solution to the problem during a test with Tim Logan, wouldnt admit it and still runs bad. He's also burnt bridges with people that keep the sport going.

Cant run a rocket if they wont sell you one.
Theres a reason why he ran black diamond cars for a couple years and those black diamonds got sold after he left and xr1's got ordered

I understood he tested and/or auditioned for Blount Motorsports ride prior to Charlotte.

Are you talking about his relationship with Valvoline when you mention the steady money sponsor?
And what was the solution to the problem he found with TLR?

Probably found out he cannot drive these new set-ups and had to start his own team again, with the only Chassis builder that would give him a deal or sell him a car.
He is a good guy. Cannot keep making a living taking provisionals. I don’t know how he does it.
I think there should be lifeguards in the genepool.
-
Its not valvoline but a shock company pays him pretty well.
And the help they provide weekly is someone who only knows how to take one apart and put one back together.
I heard they bolted on a set of ohlins and found the half second they were down but the driver wasnt allowed to run them.
Car owner said he'd never let someone drive with a deal like that again.

Interesting info. Thanks.

I could see this happening. And that be the reason he is off the pace.1/2 second all the time is huge

Sure is starting 6th or 7th in just about every heat race your in all year because of qualifying is no joke in that series.
-
Now I am trying to find a pic of the car to figure out who it is... lol.

His capital car has small penske stickers on it, other drivers seem to have good results with them, is it just the help he is getting to set them up?
