Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Competitors Gear Up for Five Races in Month of August

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) After sitting idle since the Independence Day holiday weekend, the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series (SAS) presented by Franklin Enterprises schedule is about to heat back up with five events during the remainder of the month of August. Up first will be the 4th Annual ‘Russell Thomas Memorial,’ which will be held this Saturday night, August 16 at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Ronnie Johnson will bring the SAS point lead into Saturday’s program, which now pays $5,057 to win, as he leads Joe Denby, Dillon Tidmore, Michael Luna, and Billy Franklin in the latest point tally.

From there, the action will shift north to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky on Saturday evening, August 23. The 14th edition of the ‘Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ will be held next weekend in the Bluegrass State and a $12,022 paycheck will be up for grabs. An open practice session will be held at LCS on Friday night leading into Saturday’s single-day shootout, which features the biggest top prize on the tour schedule.

A huge Labor Day weekend triple shot will then close out the month of August for the SAS competitors, as a trio of events are planned in the states of Georgia and Tennessee from August 29-31. The $4,004 to win ‘Brad York Memorial’ will kick things off on that Friday at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia. Saturday’s show will now take place at the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and a $4,000 payday will be on the line in the recently added race. The holiday weekend finale - the 17th Annual ‘Buddy Rogers Memorial’ - will be held on Sunday at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee paying $5,000 to the winner.

In addition to the lucrative purse money, drivers competing with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises during the month of August will also be vying for several bonuses each night.

    * $1,000 Bonus if a driver wins feature on four American Racer Tires
    * $500 Bonus for highest finishing driver on four American Racer Tires

Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among others. Additional rules including engine and weight rules can be found online at www.SASDirt.com. The entry fee each night will be $120.00 and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $50.00 in tow money.
