Shaun Sise Streaks to $2,500 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series Victory at North Georgia Speedway

(CHATSWORTH, GEORGIA) The sixteenth round of Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competition took place on Friday night at North Georgia Speedway and series regular Shaun Sise broke through to capture his first victory of the year on the 602 Late Model tour! Shaun stopped the clock sixth quickest in qualifying, which locked him into the outside of the third row for the start of the 30-lap main event. After avoiding the carnage that took place on the initial start of the race, which resulted in a massive pileup that included both front row starters, Shaun set sail from there in leading each of the 30 green flag circuits.

At the unfurling of the checkered flag, the Seymour, Tennessee ace was 1.647 seconds ahead of his nearest competition to capture the $2,500 first place prize money. Finishing a strong runner-up was eighth-starting Cass Fowler, of Woodstock, Georgia, who picked up a nice $1,200 consolation prize. A pair of hometown Chatsworth, Georgia drivers were next to flash underneath the checkers, as seventh-starting Jeff Smith placed third and Hayden Swaney ran fourth. Rounding out the top five at the finish was Ringgold, Georgia native Kevin Fisher.

A total of 15 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors were in the pit area at North Georgia Speedway on Friday, September 12. Booger Brooks was fast right off the trailer, as he posted the quickest official laps in both MRP Fantasy Racing hot laps and Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying. Unfortunately for the Chickamauga, Georgia driver, he was involved in the first lap melee in the headliner and was relegated to a disappointing eleventh place performance.

The doubleheader weekend for the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will conclude on Saturday, September 13 at Sugar Creek Raceway with another $2,500 to win shootout. The Street Stock ($1,500 to win), 604 Late Model ($1,000 to win), Limited Late Model, Open Wheel Modified, Front Wheel Drive, Pony Stock, Strictly Stock/Crown Vic, and Sportsman divisions will be joining the 602 Late Models in racing action at the Blue Ridge, Georgia facility. The pit gate will open at 3:00pm and the grandstands will follow suit at 5:00pm. The drivers meeting is set for 6:00pm, hot laps will take to the racetrack at 6:30pm, and racing gets underway at 7:00pm.

Adult admission is $20.00 into the grandstands and $40.00 into the pit area. Kids ages 11-15 will be admitted into the stands for only $15.00 and into the pits for only $25.00. Children ages 10 and under will be allowed onto the grounds for FREE. General parking is also FREE, while tailgate fence parking is $25.00 plus general admission. Sugar Creek Raceway is located at 2252 Sugar Creek Road in Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513. The track phone number is 321-863-2479 or get more information online at www.racesugarcreek.com.
