Red Clay 602 Series Excited to Add Robbie Weaver Memorial at Cherokee to Schedule
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series is very excited to add the 6th Annual ‘Robbie Weaver Memorial’ to the schedule for the 2026 season! A $2,000 top prize will be up for grabs for the 602 Late Model stars in the event, which will be held at the renowned Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Saturday, June 20. The 2026 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series slate now sits at 25 races at 15 different venues across the states of Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
“I am honored that the Red Clay Series will be a part of the 6th Annual Robbie Weaver Memorial,” quoted Hunter Weaver earlier today. “Walter (Tapp) and myself have been dear friends for many years. Back when I was still racing karts, he was actually flagging the race on the same night when my dad had a massive heart attack at Foothills Raceway. It means even more on a personal side knowing that Walter and his series will be a part of this event!”
“My dad, Robbie, was one of the pioneers of crate racing when it was first introduced in the early 2000s,” Weaver went on to say. “Ironically, Lennie Buff was the promoter back then in his early days of promoting Cherokee Speedway. Him and my dad were great friends over the years and my dad always supported Cherokee Speedway - from the late 1980s to his passing.”
“I want to thank all of the past series owners and promoters for allowing this event to happen,” Weaver concluded. “It is going to be an incredible weekend for the 6th Annual Robbie Weaver Memorial. This year’s event will definitely be one that you do not want to miss!”
More information concerning the ‘Robbie Weaver Memorial’ - including start times, support classes, and ticket prices - will be announced as the June 20 race date nears. Be sure to like Cherokee Speedway on Facebook and pay a visit to www.cherokee-speedway.com.
